Wow Don, that got me thinking really… I guess I had a feeling that reviews would have a big impact on customer conversion, but I really got a wakeup call when it comes to the impact on SEO and brand mentions.
I better get into it for my local presence. Thanks for the heads up!
I did start collecting reviews a little while back to show credibility on my site – it’s so true that you need to chase the good reviewers.

Yes it’s a good idea because many times consumers don’t think to leave reviews unless they are upset. That’s why its good to ask and slowly build credible reviews over time.

We have a SEO, and people find us often. However Google has changed the rules again on Online Reviews, so now, clients have given up on attempting to write reviews. Yelp, Google, and the others require you to share your life and sign up for endless spam to be able to review a business. Have you any thoughts?

Well, the big providers like Google and Yelp are requiring that users have active accounts in order to leave reviews. They are doing this because they are trying to fight review spam.

The ideal way to deal with this is to have multiple review options for your customers. So if they already have a Google account, they can leave you a review on Google. If they are already a “Yelper”, they can leave you a review on Yelp. Yahoo and CitySearch allow you to use your Facebook account to leave reviews there.
