I love a good info graphic. Done right, they can be a great way to visualize complex data and make a topic much more approachable.
Mike Blumenthal has put together a particularly good info graphic called Web Equity – Owning Your Local Web Presence.
Web Equity Infographic
If you click on the graphic below, it will take you to a larger view that has an overview, and descriptions of terms and concepts used in the graphic.

Observations
Notice how the business name, phone number and domain are at the core of owning your web presence. And just outside of that is your Website, Blog, and N.A.P. (a handy little acronym that stands for Name, Address and Phone number of your business.)
Those of you who work with me or take my courses know that I strongly believe every business owner should own their own web presence.
As Mike states in the explanation section of the graphic, your Website “provides a focal point for links, and is the key to conversion. Managing this central online presence allows the SMB to control the message.“
I couldn’t agree more. Nicely done Mike!

This graphic is genius! If you want to create a brand and authority site, this can help you a lot. It’s really useful for me, because i want to create my brand and here i can compare the importance of the Social Web and Directories or maybe Comments And Testimonials. Good job to Mike and great share by Don ๐

I like this graphic. Makes sense especially the division between social and search. Thanks for the creative thought that you put into this.
Thanks Don, I follow Mike on Twitter and do like what he has to say. Graphic is lovely work of art…I wonder if he’ll let me put it on a T-shirt that I can wear to client meetings ๐ I’ll ask him…
It’s very crucial where he puts Google Places i.e. after directory listings. Getting the directories right with the NAP helps when you come to Google Places optimisation. Of course, I’m reading the graphic as a “To Do” graphic and working from the centre outwards!
That would be hilarious – walking into a client meeting with this on your t-shirt! You’d spend half the meeting pointing at areas on your shirt while you answer questions ๐
You should get the rights to printing it on T-shirts – I’d buy 2!!
I actually had one printed and sent it to Mike…
Did Mike respond? I was looking at the graphic and see that if it were done today, Google+ would be included. Still the most relevant and well thought out infographic I’ve seen.
Hey Don!
The infographic takes a subject so complex to many (which in your trainings make very simple) and breaks it down into bite-sized, understandable pieces!
Taking the SCARY out of it…lol
Anywho…
Looking forward to continued learning with Expand2Web and making sure my own local web presence it TIGHT…;)
Thanks for sharing and…
See you around!
Shelly
This is a wonderful graphic. It’s not too complicated and I like the separation between “search” and “social.” This is a basic concept that all business owners need to understand. This also has great training potential for any new hires. Thanks for the info, Don!
Wonderful graphic. it has helped a lot in putting our basics in to place and restructure our presence over the web. A lot of hard work has gone in to the same but it has been channelised rightfully with the help of this graphic.
Keep up the good work!!
Amazing how so much information can be synthesized into this graphic. This is the most useful piece of information I’ve seen in a very, very long time.
Thank you for sharing!
Don, this graphic is a reminder / checklist, daily prioritization guide and example of great design too. I am committing valuable inkjet resources to it now and clearing space on the side of my file cabinet (removing Chinese takeout menus, etc)! Thanks for sharing it (and thanks to creator Mike Blumenthal).
I agree with the above comments…this graphic helps chunk down the importance of an online presence and I really like the priority it gives to certain elements. Great visual for training and great refresher to help to re-focus! Thanks for sharing…
Thanks for sharing this fantastic info graphic Don. This is great information to show to a local business prospect to illustrate the kind of strategy they should be looking at for their online presence.
I really appreciate that Mike licensed this information using the Creative Commons Attribution and even provided the embed code. This meant I was able to post this information on one of my own web sites within about 2 minutes…
Thanks Don. I love to learn and work with visuals and this one is great!
Thanks Don, Great information. One question. I haven’t seen usernames and passwords being part of increasing presence. Can you explain? Thanks
your graphic reminds me of astrology graphic. which is very eye catching. i agree with you about how important it is about social webs for running small business. thanks for sharing
This is my very first visit to this blog, and I want to say thank you for sharing your great ideas and time into the material you post in this website.
