Publishing Your Post at a Later Date

As a small business owner you are the business.  When you are sick or maybe want a day or two of vacation it can be a challenge to keep the business operating.  The 24×7 nature of the Internet certainly does not help!

However, WordPress has an easy solution that allows you to keep your blog running even when you are occupied doing something else. You can write posts whenever you want – but save them with a future publication date. So even while you are at the beach this summer – it will appear like you are working hard and updating your blog daily – or as often as you want!

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Go in to WordPress Post > Add New
  2. Enter your blog just as you would normally. Add text, photos, videos – whatever you normally do
  3. When you are done go the the Publish menu and select the Edit option that is next to “Publish Immediately”
  4. A series of date boxes will appear and you can enter the specific month, day, year and even hour and minute when you want this blog to be published. Select OK
  5. Now, select PUBLISH just as you normally would. However, when you visit your blog you will see that nothing has been published – the blog is just hanging out waiting for that special data and time when it will spring to life.
  6. Go on vacation. Take a day off. Get a moment to relax!

Wrap-Up

It is important for any small business to look professional.  Your web presence and your blog are a key part of your marketing and your image.  Having days or weeks go by without updates to your web site isnot the impression you want to make.  Take advantage of WordPress and schedule your posts to keep your site looking active at all times.
