Some very useful information here, keep up the good work
Don, I enjoyed the interview with DevBasu. I gained some interesting ideas about SEO that can help me. There was a slight problem with the video interview though. The problem was that your volume was very low and Dev’s was just fine. I had to keep turning up your volume and lowering his so I could hear it all. However, it was worth the effort. Thanks for sharing.
Some excellent ideas in the video thanks for sharing. I also like the powered by search website – was that built entirely in Wordpress too?
Well for me – I am just trying to get to grips with everything!
@Roger – thanks for the feedback. Yes I noticed that too. I’ll adjust the mic volume for my next interview!
@ Paul – I think so, I’ll find out from Dev.
@Karen, good – I hope this gave you a few ideas or tips!
@Paul – Yep, entirely built on Wordpress as a CMS.
@Karen – Glad you found the tips to be useful.
Thanks Don and Dev.
Keep up the good work – You’re producing some really helpful stuff for us less experienced internet marketeers.
Thank you for posting this video. It has been really, really useful for local SEO.
Always something cooking over here Don. If I had only listened a couple years ago I may have been a little further ahead of the curve. I just got my site together this week. I have a couple clients already but just to get my teeth cut.
If I may ad something here Local Search is work. Now I am finding that there are a number of people that have had some help by some lets call them pretenders. Not they are left with messed up sites and a huge mess on citation sites and such, and don’t trust anyone now. It is making it tough to gain trust to get people on the right track. Allot of people think they have a web site and that’s all they need.
There is a whole education thing going on that is getting real time consuming sometimes.
Dev has some great info about the Canada market, this is quite a little twisted game sometimes.
Thanks Don
Don,
I really appreciate the interview. I’ve listened to countless interviews and webinars on local search that were US-centric and always had to figure out the Canadian end of it myself. This interview gave me a big ‘heads-up’ on the Canadian side of local search as well as Dev and Powered by Search. Looking forward to exploring these resources further and applying what I learn.
Thanks!
Great video – tips still applies even though the local search landscape has changed heavily in the last couple of weeks. Maybe time to record another video focusing on the o-pack.
Althought I’m located in the SF Bay area, I do some local marketing for companies in Canada. It’s nice to be made aware that local search in Canada have some different characteristics.

This was a great interview. Very interesting the difference between the US and Canada.
Over here in Australia we seem to be more like the US but not so much. For example we can rank in the smaller cities of say 20,000-30,000 but with these smaller centres there are less services coming up. Generally the more common things like real estate, hotels and employment services etc. In the larger centres there is a lot more scope.
We have a large variation of local directories to submit to, to get citations.
I look forward to more of these sorts of discussions.
Agree with you Gee, I live in Newcastle NSW and there plenty of opportunity here…but it’s also starting to get very competitive for many key verticals. I’m actually looking at targeting other large regional towns because while they’re isnt a huge volume of search-there is hardly any competition and most businesses don’t even have websites yet in these country areas. I’d be really interested to know if Australia has any sites similar to Localeze?
Hi Don,

I enjoyed the interview and I got some interesting ideas about SEO that may help me. Local search engine optimization is a very cost effective way of gaining relevant traffic and sales. Thanks for this sharing.

Hi Don, I found this interview very interesting, it shows that there is a difference between locations, and I also found that sometimes when you have a client that has a business name that it just very difficult to optimize for interesting, how do we overcome this situation?
Anyway I shall continue to watch and learn what I can.
Thanks Don and Dev. I have a question about claiming your business. Is it still a good idea to claim your biz on the google local sites even if you do not have a storefront business. I’m guessing it is.
