Sweet! Google is giving out custom URLs for your Google+ profile. I just got an email from them today and claimed mine.
Here’s the email they sent me.
I just clicked through to claim it. Now my Google+ Profile URL is:
http://www.google.com/+DonCampbell
which is much nicer than the old profile URL I had to use before:
https://plus.google.com/103293832211164757839/posts
I don’t know how they are determining who get these emails, or how to request this. If anyone knows how you can request your own custom URL please let us know and share it here.
C’mon over to Google+ and add me to one of your circles so we can connect over there too.

Sweet!!!
Yes, this is very cool. Thanks for the heads up.
Just from a visual standpoint the url is much better indeed.
Feature wise Google + is the shisnick but alas i’m not one for social sharing. I wish they would do some further work on their Reader
Don,
Just added you to my Circles. I noticed your blog post appears as a G+ post. How do you connect the two?
Regards
Hi Bruce,
Thanks for adding me. I’ll add you to mine.
All you have to do is share your blog post on Google+. All of my posts have a “sharing” button that allows you to do that, or you can just take the URL of any blog post, go to Google+, and share it that way.
Don,
What’s your view on whether, as local marketers, we should run our own Google+ Local page rather than use our G+ profile for marketing purposes.
So much of local marketing depends on personal contact that it’s your name rather than your business that tends to get attention – and it’s just another dilution of effort to keep both of them ticking over.
Hi Bruce,
My view is that local marketers should promote their Google+ page. Of course there is nothing wrong with having a Google+ Local page too, and Google is going to allow you to combine them at some point in the near future.
That’s really fascinating!
