WordPress allows you to configure the settings to fit how you work with images. When you insert an image into a post you have the choice of a thumbnail, medium, large or full size image. Take a look at the video to see how easy it is to customize the image defaults to fit your preferences.

Instructions
From the dashboard click on Settings and then Media. We’ll cover the basics, but newer versions of WordPress are adding newer features so you may see more settings than are mentioned here.
- Thumbnail size – This will be the exact height and width that you want for the thumbnail display of images.
- Medium size – This will be the maximum height and width that you want for the medium size display of images. If, for example you pick 200 by 200 and the full size image is only 175 by 175, then the medium option will not even be available when you go to insert this image.
- Large size – This will be the maximum height and width that you want for the large size display of images. The same limitation as noted above for medium size applies here as well.
Remember to click on Save Changes before leaving this page.
Wrap-Up
WordPress sets up defaults that work for most users – but also includes these options to let you customize WordPress to meet you very specific needs and preferences.
