How To Add Navigation Sub-Menus in WordPress and the SmallBiz Theme

If you are using the Expand2Web SmallBiz Theme v1.2 or higher you can add sub menus underneath any of your navigation menu items. This video shows you how:

Steps for adding sub-menu items:

  1. Create a new WordPress Page (not a Post!) If you don’t know the difference, read this article: WordPress Pages vs Posts – What is the Difference?.
  2. Give it a title that you want to appear in the navigation menu.
  3. Select the Parent drop-down under the Attributes section on the right hand side. The page parent is the navigation item the new page will appear under.
  4. Publish the page.
  5. That’s it! Your new page should appear as a sub-menu item in your nav menu.

Hi there,

Would you happen to know how to overcome the bug in the Layers theme (Layers 1.1.1 by Jai Pandya) that prevents the creation of sub-menus using the method you described?

Upon going through the above steps, a page that is supposed to be a sub-menu item appears indented on a second line of the main menu and some other main menu page entries disappear.

Been driving me crazy!

Many thanks, any help is much appreciated.
Daniela
