Don Campbell created Expand2Web to help small business owners build WordPress websites that rank in the top of local search results on Google, Yahoo and Bing.
Don lives and breathes computers and technology ever since he got his first computer in 9th grade (it was an Apple!) That convinced him that one day he needed to live in the mecca of technology – Silicon Valley.
The Move to Silicon Valley
In 1998 he moved from Michigan to Silicon Valley to be where the action is. He joined a 30-person start-up company called Interwoven, and became an instrumental part of their growth to 1,000 people and completing an IPO in 2000.
Joining a Startup
At Interwoven Don met with hundreds of companies like eBay, Amazon, FedEx, Cisco, Ford, etc. and advised them on their web content management tools and procedures. As a Group Product Manager responsible for a $5M product line, he also presented internationally at technology conferences like Microsoft TechEd, IBM WebSphere and many others.
Adventures at Microsoft
Don then went to Microsoft as a Technical Evangelist sharing the latest technology with with Fortune 500 companies and presenting to C-Level executives on Information Worker Productivity methods and return on investment.
He was also a trained and highly sought after presenter at the Microsoft Executive Briefing Center in Redmond, WA and presented at Web 2.0 Expo, Office 2.0 and many other events and conferences.
Expand2Web – Home of the Small Business “entrepreneur”
Now Don has his own business – Expand2Web – which helps small business owners figure out how to use the web with tools for building WordPress websites and strategies for building an effective web presence.
Started in January 2008, Expand2Web now helps hundreds of small businesses create WordPress Websites and position themselves for top local search results – delivering new customers every day from the web.
Geeking Out
Most recently Don presented one of his joint venture startups at the TechCrunch 50 event in front of an audience of over 1,500 people and thousands more on the web. RefMob was one of 50 finalists chosen from 1,200 of this year’s hottest start-ups from around the world.
Don is in “tech heaven” now and spends time at the Google campus regularly to stay cutting edge on the very latest local search techniques.
He loves his family and enjoys the ocean and mountains in the Northern California Bay Area with his beautiful wife and two wonderful daughters. Don is also learning Jazz piano as a creative outlet and is trying to learn how to skimboard on Wednesday mornings in Capitola.
