Mind Map - How To Create Killer Flagship Content for Your Blog

April 19th, 2008 · 9 Comments · Cool Stuff, Mind Maps, tips and tricks

If you’re into blogging, you’ve probably visited Chrisg.com, and if you’re like me you subscribe to Chris’ feed there. His blog is a constant source of great information on creating a compelling blog presence. If you subscribe to his feed in either RSS or Email, you’ll get a free copy of his ebook: Killer Flagship Content.

This is an excellent ebook, full of actionable content to help you bring new visitors to your blog. In it, he describes flagship content as the “go-to” resource within your niche. Chris gives a lot of specific examples and ideas. The tips inside apply not only to a blog, but to any web site, including small business web sites that want to build a better presence on the web.

When I read excellent books like this, I want to make sure I internalize the information inside. One of the ways that I do this is to create a mind map that I can refer back to later.

Killer Flagship Content Mind Map - Collapsed

The process of creating the mind map helps me cement the information in my mind, and it also gives me something to go back to and review one week or one month later. And all of the effective memory techniques you learn will tell you this kind of review is important for remembering key information.

So here is the Killer Flagship Content mind map in PDF format, or you can click on the image to see an expanded view. If you have Mind Manager you can download the actual .mmap file here. If you don’t, I recommend you get the free MindManager viewer so you can explore the map.

Anyway, I hope that you’ll go subscribe to Chris’ blog and get his eBook: Killer Flagship Content. And I hope my mind map will help you internalize the great information he provides in it!

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed or Email updates. Thanks for visiting!

    Hi Don,

It’s the first time visit on your blog I guess, and would like to quickly comment on your post.

I enjoyed this Great resource in here, keep similar posts coming in.. I’m going to read the PDF again, and implement the tips.

I truly appreciate you’re focusing on providing practical stuff, and not just theory or fluff talk..

Btw, Chris is providing SKYPE updates to his blog, how is this possible, do you know about it?

    Cheers,

Thanks for visiting Codrut - I appreciate the compliments. I don’t see the Skype updates on Chris’ blog; where so you see that?
    Take care,

Update: Codrut - I just ran across this Wordpress plugin called IM Online that allows you to display your Skype (and other instant messaging applications) status on your blog.

    Hi Don,

thanks for doing the work of mindmapping what seems to be a very useful read. I tried to download the .mmap file through your link and i got something quite different. Is it linking to an incorrect asset or is there something i need to do in order to be able use the .mmap file. (I do use Mindmanager.)

    @Ian,
Thanks for the note - I just tried the link in the post called “download the actual .mmap file” and it worked for me. The file name is KillerFlagshipContent.mmap and when I click on the link, it launches MindManager for me and opens the map. I’ve seen these types of associates get mixed up in the browser though. I’ll email you a copy of the file ok?
