Traffic - photo credit: diankarl on FlickrIn part two of this three part series - Internet Marketing Secrets #136, Michael Campbell interviews search engine optimization experts Jerry West, Mike Liebner and Sherman Hu, and asks them to share their secrets for generating traffic. (Here is a direct link to the transcript page)

He asks each of them questions like:

  1. What are your three favorite methods for generating traffic to your website?
  2. How do you market your websites?
  3. How do you optimize your website and copy for the search engines?
  4. What mistakes can people make in trying to generate traffic to their website?
  5. What is one secret for generating traffic that many people don’t know about?

The entire interview is great, but my absolute favorite tip was the one Sherman Hu shared about using TubeMogul as a way to broadcast your video content to many places across the web.

A Great Tip for Generating Traffic

I had not heard of TubeMogul before, but apparently you can upload your Quicktime video there, and it will broadcast it to 12+ other video sites on the web including YouTube, Blip.tv, Yahoo Video, Veoh, Revver, Google Video, Daily Motion and others.

What is even cooler… is the tip about Blip.tv. Blip.tv will transcode your video to other formats like .mov, .swf, m4v, mp3 and more so that your content is available for iPods, mp3 audio, etc. Then you can grab the code snippets and post these on your blog for your readers to watch, listen to or download.

You can then use Castingwords to transcribe your .mp3 into text. Now, from your original video you can offer multiple video formats, audio and text to your readers on your blog! Plus all this content is great for the search engines, especially with Universal Search emerging as a way to feature many different types of content in search results!

The Visual Mind Map

Just like for Part 1 of this series, I created a Mind Map of the tips and tricks shared in the podcast. Here is a link to the PDF, or you can view it as a full-size image by clicking on the thumbnail below. The PDF contains links to the transcript of the podcast, and many of the tools and resources mentioned in the interviews. You can also download the MindManager file if you would like, using the free MindManager viewer ( do this for the best viewing experience.)

Traffic Generation Mind Map - Part 2

I’m going to be using this process that Sherman recommends for the video content I produce on this blog, and will keep you posted with tips and tricks that I learn along the way!
